Ben Means comes from the old school of cowboys and cow dogs.  His standard for selecting and training dogs is based on the Code of the West.

Ben developed his training program based on sound, common-sense training methods cohered with over 47 years of experience.  He has been one of the leading cattle dog trainers in this country for nearly all those years.  A Border Collie breeder for over 45 years, he also worked Australian Kelpies for about a dozen years, and has trained Australian Cattle Dogs, Australian Shepherds, and herding cross-breeds with his methods.

TRAINING

  • We take a select number of outside dogs for training

  • Only Border Collies or BC crosses these days - remember Ben's retired J

  • $375 / 30 days  Deposit required.

  • Ben will only keep them 30 - 45 days - they aren't just here for that amount of time, he works them each day

  • You must make transportation arrangements for the dog to and from our place

  • Our definition of a started dog is one that has all his commands on him by 30 - 45 days, depending on the dog's aptitude, obeys those commands, and has been trained on cattle.

PUPPIES

We occasionally have cattle-bred Border Collie pups for sale.  Please check with Ben on his upcoming litters or our dogs page.  Call him to put your name on the waiting list.

STARTED DOGS

We occasionally have started dogs for sale (Border Collies).  If we don't have what will suit your needs, we refer to others in the industry if you are looking for started or broke dogs.
